 .VERBS.

A verb is a part of speech that expresses an action or a state of being.  A verb may consist of one word, such as .send., or a group of words, such as .has been sending.

1. Verbs are words that make statements about persons, things, or ideas.  The verb, also known as the simple predicate, is the part of speech that does the following:

 a. It expresses the action performed by the subject: go, stay look feel...

b. It could simply be a state of being on the part of the subject: is, are was, were be...

c. As the simple predicate, the verb helps make a sentence, which makes a statement, asks a question, or gives a command.

2.              Verbs are necessary to sentence meanings.

3.              Verbs are marked with periods, (.run.)
